Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore is celebrating with “It’s a Waterfront Life,”

It’s the most wonderful time of the year on the Baltimore Waterfront with merriment, fun-filled family festivities and bountiful good cheer!

 

For the second holiday season, the  Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore is celebrating with “It’s a Waterfront Life, a variety of activities and special events for kids from one to 92, including the return of the Power Plant Holiday Light Show Spectacular with even more dazzling special effects than last year. Festivities will begin in mid-November and will last until December 31. Whether Baltimoreans are in the mood to shop, dine or stroll, the waterfront offers something for everyone!

 

December events include Merry Tuba Christmas and Light a Boat Parade, both on Saturday, Dec. 1World Holiday Traditions at National Aquarium on Friday, Dec. 7 as part of their Fridays After Five cultural series; and a holiday celebration with Diego at National Aquarium on Saturday, Dec. 15 and Sunday, Dec. 16“It’s a Waterfront Life” will conclude on Monday, Dec. 31 with the Maryland Science Center’s annual Midnight Noon event featuring Milkshake.

The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum, America’s first wax museum of African American history and culture, will celebrate the museum’s “30 in 13” anniversary with temporary and traveling exhibits.

 

100th Anniversary of Harriet Tubman’s Passing (Beginning March 2013)

Harriet Tubman is a revered national and international hero. Born on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Tubman led 300 slaves to freedom. The State of Maryland is preparing for the commemoration of the life and legacy of Harriet Tubman in March 2013, the 100th anniversary of Tubman’s passing. Recount the stories of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad in Baltimore through powerful exhibits, cultural attractions, heritage tours, and historic landmarks such as the National Great Blacks In Wax Museum, Reginald F. Lewis Museum, The Underground Railroad Tour, and Camden Station.

 

Blacktip Reef – National Aquarium (Summer 2013)

Beginning in summer 2013, guests will be able to enjoy Blacktip Reef, a breathtaking exhibit full of color, light, and movement located in the heart of the National Aquarium. This coral-filled exhibit, replicating Indo-Pacific reefs, is active with life that guests can experience from many vantage points of the National Aquarium, including a new floor-to-ceiling pop-out viewing window that allows guests to virtually step inside the exhibit and come face-to-face with the animals.
