Actor – Lamar X. Lacy

By Taroue Brooks

What inspires you to be an actor?

The opportunity to bring someone’s story to life and entertain people. Being able to see things through others point of view really gives me an energy that I love.

What kind of training have you done?

My early training began in my church youth group with my acting coach Amani Smiley. I went on to receive formal training from KD Conservatory and Rowland Acting Studios.

What would be the ideal role for you and why?

A role that would bring happiness, laughter, and excitement to the audience. A role that has a long last positive impact in the world we live in today.

What has been the most challenging aspect of being in the entertainment industry?

Being able to work as a full-time actor is very challenging. My corporate job didn’t allow the flexibility to consistently audition nor take time off to be on a set. This makes it harder to connect with peers in the acting community.

What advice would you give someone who seeks to become an actor?

Listen to your gut. If your dream is to be truly be an actor, the feeling will never go away. Start taking acting classes to build your resume and sharpen your skills. Invest in yourself! The only person stopping you is you!

Where do you see your career in the next five years?

I am determined to be a working full time actor. I see myself in a major leading role and working alongside some of the people who inspired me to be an actor. Portraying characters that will help me grow as an actor and be an inspiration to others. An award would be great too! LOL
