Tell us about your education.
I had the honor and privilege to attend the best Historical Black College and University on the planet, Albany State University where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in English. And I recently obtained my Doctorate in Divinity at Grace Life University.
What inspired you to become a Life Coach & Speaker?
Having been reared in a very strict household as an adolescent, I always felt like I had limited people to vent and emote to! And those adolescent years are extremely important years. Therefore when I incorporated my company in 2005, 16 years ago, it was never a doubt that I wanted to help, assist and advocate for people to understand that they were never alone and always had someone they could vent to and rely on. And I’ve been speaking and inspiring since then.
What keeps you motivated in such a competitive industry?
What keeps me motivated is understanding that I’m my own competition. I don’t look at my industry as being competitive because I’m not looking at the competition. I learned early on in my career that my message won’t be for everybody and that I’m called to inspire a particular person. So my focus is who I’m called to assist, encourage, and aid; not anything else.
Tell us about your role in the reality show.
I am the Creator, Executive Producer & one of the Judges on the first reality competition for Empowerment Speakers entitled, THE G.O.A.T Empowerment Competition. The show was conceptualized at the beginning of 2017 while I was sitting home watching television. And now to watch what was only an idea turn into a reality and get to do it in front of the camera and behind the camera has been amazing.
What advice would you give someone who seeks entrepreneurship?
First, I would encourage them that entrepreneurship isn’t for the faint of heart. That it requires true blood, sweat and tears. But it’s worth it in the end. Secondly, I’d encourage people to always maintain multiple streams of income so that you aren’t broke trying to own a business or do what you love. And get mentorship in the field that you aspire to be an entrepreneur in to see if that is exactly the lane you want to travel because entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone.
Where do you see your career in the next five years?
I see myself doing exactly what I’m doing now just on a grander scale… a bigger level. Continuing to help and inspire others to become the best version of themselves. I have a winner’s spirit so whatever I touch will be great. And that’s not arrogance in myself but in the God that I serve.
