Get In Shape For Free at Queens Library

Aids Health Foundation

Spring is here and summer is around the corner—and it’s never been easier to get in shape and get a great workout, at no cost and in your own neighborhood!

Shape Up NYC is a citywide fitness program run by NYC Parks, in partnership with NYC Service, Equinox, and Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. It offers free classes every week—like Zumba, yoga, aerobics, and cardio sculpt—all across the five boroughs, including several Queens Library locations.

Shape Up NYC classes are taught by expert instructors who know how to make fitness fun. Space is limited, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. But all you need is a towel (or a yoga mat) and a bottle of water—and your desire to get in shape!

  1. This is great and much needed for Queens neighborhoods and it’s free!!! I have participated in a class at my local library. I enjoyed the class but we had to exercise in the middle of the library. There is a room that is available and we asked if we can use it. She stated no. Nevertheless, I feel abit uncomfortable exercising in middle of library with onlookers. Not to mention interrupting the folks at the library.. Myself and other attendees wrote a petition letter to the Liberian. I hope that she changes her mind if not most of us have chosen to not attend.
