It is pretty evident within the first 30 minutes of spending time with the 2020 Lexus LX570 that it is the flashier and arguably sexier cousin of the Land Cruiser. Under the hood and even on the outside, the LX570 shares many mechanical bits with its cousin.
During our brief time with the 2020 Lexus LX570, we discovered that not only was it a very competent off-roader but doubled as a great daily driver. Its luxury, driving comfort and ease of handling puts it right up there with the Range Rover, minus the premium price tag. While we’re not implying that the LX570 is cheap, but when you compare all the options, features, space and engine capacity features with its British rival, it turns out that the LX is a comparatively better and albeit lower-priced option.
What’s New in 2020?
The LX has been around for quite some time, as the brand’s largest SUV, with no major changes or updates for quite some time. While the 2020 Lexus LX570 is not very different from its predecessors, the addition of the Sport package and the introduction of the three-row model, with a unique mesh grille, new rear and front bumpers with chrome detailing across narrower side view mirrors give it a fresh look. Inside there is an optional cooled centre console, which is a standalone option, along with rear entertainment.
Engine and Performance
The 2020 Lexus LX570 is powered by a 383-hp 5.7-liter V8 engine under the hood. It is the same engine and bears the same sound of it gulping pounds of air-fuel its ignition. When you press the pedal hard, you’ll hear a brief yet noticeable whoosh, before it goes from 0-60 in just 7.2 seconds. The 7.2 seconds is pretty incredible given how much the LX570 weighs and is more than enough to save it from the “slow” label.
While the ride is very comfortable because the vehicle is built to shrug off bumps, the steering experience tends to be a little muted and somehow you don’t feel connected to the road. Though in a way that’s a good thing especially if you take the LX570 off-roading of which it is very capable of doing.
Towing Capacity
Now our assumption is that most people who own the 2020 Lexus LX570 will want to tow a few things, like maybe a boat. Fortunately, its 7000-pound towing capacity is more than adequate for most people.
Cabin Comfort
The 2020 Lexus LX570 is roomy, to say the least. It is comfortable, with lots of space to store things like bags and boxes making it perfect as a weekend gateway car. However, our favorite has to be the 12.3-inch infotainment system screen that’s snuggly placed on top of the dashboard, supported by surround sound speakers and an easy to navigate system.
The dashboard is covered with soft leather, along with glossy wood, and metal accents, all of which give it a premium look. The build quality of all the switches is top-notch, though the cluster of buttons may not be everyone’s cup of tea, in our opinion, it’s hard to get away from for a vehicle that offers so many features.
Final Verdict – Should You Buy It?
Yes! The 2020 Lexus LX570 offers the same reliability, performance, and most of all, roominess that’s has been associated with this class of vehicle for a very long time. Not only do you get more bang for your money with the LX570 compared to the competition but this vehicle enjoys excellent resale too.
