As black women continue to soar in the entrepreneurial landscape now representing 42% and climbing of new women-owned businesses one serial entrepreneur shares three things she wishes she knew before taking the ultimate step of faith. As founder of Miz. CEO Entrepreneurial Media Brand, Mosley has helps hundreds of businesswomen scale their companies, expand their brands, and achieve notoriety both domestically and internationally. Miz. CEO Entrepreneurial Media Brand is a publicity, publishing, and coaching firm based out of Indianapolis with an impact across multiple disciplines ranging from Medical, Business, to Entertainment. The savvy businesswoman is known for her consistency, diligence, and hard work as she executes business strategies and spearheads campaigns that build equity and successfully catapult her clients into profits of 6 to 7 figures.
Dr. Jessica Mosley started out like most women with a dream of retiring with a 401K as the first African American and female VP for the bank she once worked for. Mosley soon realized that God had a vision for her life that was much bigger and included IRA’s and Business ownership.
Over the last several years Mosley has created multiple jobs and helped women though education and housing opportunities. Through the personal and professional mountain highs and valley lows of her journey Dr. Mosley opens up with Heart & Soul Magazine to discuss the 3 things she wishes she knew before starting Miz. CEO Entrepreneurial Media Brand, why it’s important to have multiple streams of revenue, and giving back through her non-profit Deborah’s Place for battered women and nonviolent offenders in need of a second chance through a re-entry program.
Tell us about Mz. CEO Enterprises.
The Mz. CEO Entrepreneurial Media Brand was created for aspiring and seasoned female entrepreneurs. There is a publishing, public relations, and a coaching arm to the brand and we have successfully helped hundreds of women build equity since it’s conception.
What are 3 things you wish you knew before becoming a business owner?
The 3 things I wish I knew before becoming a business owner is 1. Put everyone on a contract, business is business, 2. Never give out more information than necessary, and 3. Put everyone on a contract, business is business.
Why is it important for entrepreneurs to have multiple businesses?
It is important for businessowners to have multiple streams of income and diversify the various streams of revenue because if and when one or more of your businesses is impacted by economic hardship, unexpected loss, or for personal reasons you will always have something to fall back on. I also believe that one should go at their own pace and become an expert at one thing first and then do another.
You founded Deborah’s Place for Battered Women. Why was it important for you to give back to the community?
I am a former victim of domestic violence abuse. I know that woman. I know how she feels, what she thinks, how her self-esteem has been shattered. I know her! I was her! I want to be able to go back and rescue a “me.” Deborah’s Place addresses the socio-economic, educational, and housing needs of teenage girls and women who are affected by domestic violence. God has been so amazing, I currently have a donation center because of the global partnerships that I now have. There are so many people suffering in this world, love is an action word and I just want to see lives transformed.
What’s next for you?
Well, I’m currently in the midst of opening Sovereign Care Medical Training Center. This medical center will have programs such as CNA, EMT, Medical Code and Billing, Medical Assistant, EKG Technician, Pharmacy Technician and so much more.
