U.S. Black Chambers (USBC) released the following statement in honor of Juneteenth and to commemorate USBC’s new byblack platform:

“Today is met with a sobering reflection of what ‘freedom’ really means and whether Black Americans have achieved true freedom.
Although physically free from decades of torture, free labor, and slavery; Black people are still continuously tormented by individual racism, economic racism, and societal racism, impacting each and every component of the Black experience.

The pandemic and systemic racist practices have largely resulted in Black unemployment being the highest its been in a decade, and the closing of 41% Black-owned businesses.
Our solution has been and will always be Black entrepreneurship as a tool for economic freedom. Today in honor of Juneteenth we’re releasing our new byblack platform to onboard Black-owned businesses onto our new platform.

As we commemorate Juneteenth, we’re reminded, our people were not slaves, they were enslaved,” said USBC President Ron Busby.
