Over her two decades career Ms. Sesay has been a serial entrepreneur. Having owned businesses from Telecommunication, Import and Export, Construction, Hospitality, Consulting and Government Contracting in her home country of Sierra Leone.
With her successful business ventures Ms Sesay has generated enough resources to afford her the opportunity to support kids and young adults in various ways. Everything from food, housing, medical expenses, clothing and education needs.
Over the years she has employed numerous people across her ventures helping them to lead better lives. Patricia has an empathic and caregiving nature.
She has traveled extensively across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and American. A truly international business person Patricia has seen the disparities across different cultures.
Sierra Leone as a country of over 8 million people has many untapped resources. However its greatest resource, is its young people. They are under attack from the scourge of Kush.
A synthetic drug known as “kush “ has killed thousands of people especially the youths. In Sierra Leone and other west African countries. Kush emerged in Sierra Leone but has spread across countries in the subregion, including Liberia, Guinea and Gambia. It contains nitazenes (opioids) which can even be more destructive than fentanyl and synthetic cannabinoids. Kush was declared a national emergency in April 2024.
It is sadly destroying the future of our youths. It has been prevalent in the country for years. It is also known as the zombie drug. One of the drugs and made of many ingredients including human bones. Addicts are digging graves to remove the skeletons in the cemeteries. There are groups of mostly young men and women sitting on street corners with swollen limbs and very deep wounds due to the Kush addiction. The ravaging impact of the drug is also affecting their mental health. There have been alarming numbers of admissions into the Sierra Leone psychiatric hospital between 2020 till date. It is very disheartening and heartbreaking to see the future generation of our country being destroyed due to this poisonous and deadly synthetic drug.
Young men and women are dying on the streets and are being buried in mass graves because of kush addictions. I have lost a nephew and still have nieces and nephews who are currently addicted. Heart & Soul’s goal is to help fight this addiction and give our young men and women a drug free and healthy lifestyle. Our mission is to set up a rehab center with adequate facilities in Freetown to help these substance abusers conquer their addictions and lead a better life.
Patricia passion for her country and helping people has put her on a path to do more, to help those affected with Kush addition. To that end in partnership with Heart & Soul and the TIS Foundation she has created the Sierra Leone Rehabilitation Center. Their mission is to save a generation of people that are dying from drug addiction.
In Ms Sesay’s own family, Kush has had devastating and tragic effects. Her nephew just 25 years old from a good family background was tragically found dead in the street ravaged by Kush.
