Tell us about Little Britches Preparatory School?

Little Britches Preparatory School was established in 2014. It was an existing daycare, I purchased it, turned it into a Learning Center, and then a Preparatory School. At Little Britches Preparatory school we prepare our scholars for success in a changing world everyday through the curriculum offerings we have and our close knit staff who work tirelessly to educate our scholars.

What inspired you to open an early childhood education center?

In undergrad I was going to school for nursing, I needed a part-time job. I got one in the afterschool program writing curriculum. Then I pursued an interim position for first grade teacher. I realized that working in the school district did not resonate with me because there were different things that we could do in the afterschool program that we couldn’t do any actual class, so from there I created this vision of the type of facility I would like to have and someday own.

    ⁃    Shannon Medrano

“My kids have been at Little Britches Learning Center for four years and I couldn’t be happier with the care they provide for all three of my children. They have helped me in every aspect and have gone above and beyond my expectations. Mrs. Brandi has genuinely worked with my son who has emotional challenges. The staff even visited my 3 year-old, on their own time, when he was in the hospital after a procedure. They truly care about the kids!”

    ⁃    Erica King

“I have been a customer of Little Britches Learning Center since 2015. As a foster parent, I have the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life. The center is an educational, safe and clean environment. I normally have children in my home ages 0-5. I have seen first-hand the ratio of teacher-to-child and no matter what age, the teachers are hands-on and genuinely interested in the well-being and education of my children. I couldn’t ask for anything more from a learning center!”

    ⁃    Harmony Heel.
“Mrs. Davis has been wonderful to know and work with at Little Britches Learning Center. She is very focused on the quality of care and educational resources for the children as well as the teachers. My 9 year-old and 3 year-old children adore her and her family. The teachers there truly care about the children as if they were their very own. They incorporate many activities throughout the day to keep the kids engaged in learning. They go on field trips to museums and aquariums during the summer as well. There are many other things I could say, but overall, I am very happy with the care provided, the learning resources offered and the cleanliness of the center.”

You refer to your students as Scholars. Why is that?

Every interaction with a learner is a signature moment that either moves that individual closer to retention or attrition. So referring to our students as scholars from the enrollment process sets the foundation for academic excellence. We prepare them for success by identifying their potential, allowing them to feel their greatness.

Why is social emotional learning so important for scholars at an early age?

Early Childhood. That 3 year old sweet spot is when all the connections are being formed in the brain. We children are taught to self regulate at an early age, to express their feelings with words at an early age, It lays the foundation for the rest of the scholar’s life.

What sets LBPS apart from other learning centers?

Our Social Emotional Learning Program is amazing. Our scholars learn affirmations, self regulation, accountability, self actualization and how to communicate their feelings. What increases the effectiveness of this program is our student to teacher ratios. We keep our classes small so that we can interact one-on-one with each scholar and give them the attention they need.

What is next for LBPS?

Right now we have 3 classrooms, our PreK3, PreK4 and Elementary classrooms for before and after care. We are opening a 3rd classroom that will be blended.

Our next big thing is opening a new location in Arkansas, so we are super excited about that. Being able to see the progression of our scholars that started out at 3 and they are now 10, 13, some even 15 makes me see the endless possibilities of growth and I’m always thinking in my head, “what’s next?”
