Tell us about your experience with you very first audition.
I was awful. I had the script in my hand, and I kept looking at it, as opposed to doing the scene with the reader. My face was in the script, so deeply, that the reader had to stop me and let me know that all I could see was the top of my head on camera.

How have you grown as an actor?
I’ve learned to be patient with myself. Not to view anyone audition as make or break.

I’ve also learned that who we are as individuals is what we’re ultimately bringing into the room. Anyone can say the words correctly, but no one has our individual sum of experiences.

What has been your favorite role thus far and why?

Honestly? I shot this limited series called “Orbital Redux”, with a group of actors that was at the time, shot live, like a play. I got really close to all the cast and crew on that job, and everyone that was a part of it was really happy to be there, and you could really tell by how things moved. We were a real team.

What was the process like auditioning during the pandemic?
During the pandemic, there are a lot of virtual, auditions and callbacks. It was a big adjustment for me.

Especially when they were producer sessions. There’s something to be said about being in the room with someone, where you can share a vibe. That was pretty lost in the virtual audition experience.

What did you learn most about yourself during the strike?
I learned that I can keep busy with things in any kind of metaphorical weather.

Other than working as an actor, what do you enjoy?
Traveling, reading these books that have been sitting on my bookshelf forever, cooking, playing pick up ball, although I’m not Islas consistent at that as I used to be.

Where would you like to see your career in the next five years?
I would like to see myself happily, and gainfully/ consistently employed in a work situation that is generous, and excited, and team oriented as you can get in Hollywood. It doesn’t matter if it’s a series or a film.

I just want to be around cool people who love to create, who love being around each other, and have a goal to make fun and interesting stuff.
