What inspired you to become an entrepreneur after retirement?

I truly love baking and making others rekindle the memories of their childhood with a taste of my desserts. Not to mention, I to also love sweets. I was always told by my friends and family how great my desserts were and how I should really think about starting a business. So after retiring from the state of California in 2017 and moving to Georgia in 2018, I decided to take the leap of faith and start A Little Taste of Heaven.

What inspired you to start baking?

I began baking as child with my mother and truly enjoyed the taste and smell of sweets. It was from those memories that I sparked an interest in baking and began teaching myself how to bake cookies and cakes.

What was it that made you feel that you had what it took to turn your passion into a business?

I’ve always had drive and I believe when you are truly passionate about your God given talent whatever that may be the door of opportunity will always await you. I truly am passionate about my desserts and all things kitchen/baking. I also believe my customers can agree as they savor every moment until the very last crumb.

What makes your pastries different from the other businesses that focus on sweets?

What sets me part from others is the love and passion that I put into each dessert. The quality and fresh of the ingredients along with time I spend on each one of my desserts.

Lemon Blueberry Pound Cake

What is your favorite item to make and why?

Hmmmmmm, this is tough question honestly I just love all things sweet but if I would to have to choose it would be my Carrot Cake. This cake is one my favorites because it an old recipe that was passed down to my father and then given to me, also if there happens to be in Cream Cheese frosting left, I can lick the bowl.

What has been the most challenging aspect of becoming an entrepreneur?

Time management, there is always something to do when you are a business owner.

What advice would you offer to others who have passions but feel as though it is too late?

I would say its never to late, in the words of NIKE: JUST DO IT! Find what your passionate about and get moving.

How does social media impact your business?

Social media has truly grown my business and I am grateful for all of my followers. I enjoy reading the comments, reviews and even hearing about suggestions.

What has been the most memorable compliment you have received from a customer?

The most memorable compliment I received from a customer was from Aineicia Riley- Ransburg, she stated,  ” Mona’s baked goods are just that “a little taste of heaven”. She’s extremely professional and everything she makes is amazing. Her goods will take you back to when grandma was in the kitchen. It will melt in your mouth, and leave your taste buds feeling exuberantly great! You won’t be disappointed I promise!

How has your family reacted to this new flow of entrepreneurship?

They are truly happy for me, helpful and send me positive vibes and they are always willing to try something new. They are truly my personal focus group.

Where do you see your business in the next five years?

In the next five years, I see my desserts being wholesaled to various companies throughout the United States. Take and bake products and Celebrity endorsements.
