Amber Robins-Hickson, MD, MBA is a double board certified Family and Lifestyle medicine doctor as well as a certified life coach. She is a best-selling author, physician journalist, creator of Sanxtuary MD by Dr. Amber, and co-founder of Women in White Coats.
She graduated from University of Rochester School of Medicine for medical school and residency. She completed a Health and Media fellowship at Georgetown University School of Medicine in collaboration with PBS NewsHour.
Dr. Robins has written and been featured on various media platforms including the PBS NewsHour, HuffingtonPost, ABC News, Black Enterprise, Ebony Magazine, Doximity, GoodRx, Medelita, BlackDoctor.org, and The Journal for Minority Medical Students in her own column entitled “Diary of a Medical Student”. She has appeared in medical segments for the national PBS NewsHour and the local Rochester CBS.
Dr. Robins has received many awards. She was honored as the Congressional Black Caucus/National Minority Quality Forum’s 2018 40 Under 40 Leaders in Minority Health and also 40 Under 40 for Xavier University of Louisiana. Additionally, she is a former board member for Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) where she held the role of resident representative. Dr. Robins also was a Girl Scout Gold Award Recipient.
Somewhere between studying and sleeping during medical school, Dr. Amber began to wonder if there was solution for your period leaks. As Dr. Amber began seeing her own patients through her training and now as a board certified family medicine doctor, she also realized something else. If only women of every age could learn about their bodies, it would make a whole lot of difference.
With this vision in mind, Dr. Amber formed SANXTUARY MD, a company where women of all ages can learn about their bodies, find products to manage their periods with confidence.
