On Sept. 16, SEIU, Community Change Action, and Color of Change hosted an awards reception honoring members of the Congressional Black Caucus, who have achieved significant milestones in advocating for Black communities domestically and globally. The Bridge Builders: Celebrating Black Leadership in Congress event took place at the Long View Gallery in Shaw, D.C. This year’s honorees were: Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-MA, Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL), Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH), and Rep. Ilan Omar (D-MN). Rep. Omar was not able to attend. Award-winning actor and singer, Tristan Mack Wilds, served as this year’s guest host.
