The three-row Jeep Grand Cherokee L, which debuted in 2022, returns in 2023 with class-leading comfort and luxury at a reasonable price. A huge success since it launched, this mid-size SUV is a family hauler that drives excellently in any situation, especially in bad weather.

Newly launched as a long-wheelbase version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it enters 2023 with few changes. They include an in-dash navigation as standard equipment in the Limited and Overland models and Jeep’s optional Alpine stereo with nine-speaker in the Limited trim. Other additions include the McIntosh 19-speaker system for the Overland and Summit editions.

The L in the Grand Cherokee stands for long-wheelbase, allowing enough room to seat seven passengers comfortably. It is taller and 15 inches longer than the regular Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L shares many of the same features and styling as the redesigned two-row 2022 Grand Cherokee. In addition, it includes advanced safety technology, 10.25-inch touchscreen displays, backseat entertainment, and multiple available packages. Backseat entertainment includes dual 10.1-inch displays with built-in Amazon Fire TV that streams videos through Wi-Fi or the vehicle’s mobile hotspot.

Models/Pricing: The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L comes in six trim levels with 4×2 or 4×4 suspensions. The 4×4 model adds $2,000 to the price tag.  The Grand Cherokee L Laredo ($44,830), Altitude ($49,935), Limited ($51,560), Overland ($60,990), Summit ($65,505), which offers the V6 and V8 engine, and the Summit Reserve only comes with the 4×4 ($71,985) and the 5.7-liter eight-cylinder powertrain.

Power: The Altitude, Laredo, and Limited are powered by a 3.6-liter six-cylinder that generates 293 horsepower. The Overland and Summit models offer the base six-cylinder or the 5.7-liter eight-cylinder that gets 357 horsepower, and the top-of-line Summit Reserve comes standard with a 4×4 and the eight-cylinder engine. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel Economy: The six-cylinder engine averages 19 city/26 highway mpg, while the V8 is rated at 14 city/22 highway mpg.
