Washington, D.C.– In honor of National Black Business Month the U.S. Black Chambers (USBC) has partnered with Google to release a first of it’s kind “Black-owned” virtual badge, which helps consumers easily identify Black-owned businesses when using Google Search and Google Maps.
USBC President Ron Busby released the following statement:
“Recent events have not only forced the world to reckon with the systemic and structural racism that have impacted the Black community for generations, but have also activated people to educate themselves and make meaningful change. As people look for ways to support the Black community, there’s been a surge in online searches for “Black owned” businesses.

In an effort to increase online traffic to Black-owned businesses we’ve launched our byblack platform and partnered with Google to create a “Black-owned” virtual badge to help people identify and support Black-owned local businesses via Google Search and Google Maps.
Our byblack platform coupled with the new Google Black-owned badge allows us to direct online traffic to Black-owned businesses, making this a huge opportunity to increase revenue for Black-owned businesses.” said USBC President Ron Busby.
