Singer-actress Adena Ajayi co-stars in the drama-thriller film “Who Is She?” now streaming on Peacock, Tubi, Amazon Prime, Fandango, and Hoopla – reaching over 300 million home theatres and counting.
Now streaming on Peacock, Tubi, Amazon Prime, Fandango, and Hoopla, “Who Is She” tells the story of a beautiful woman in search of love and acceptance, but masks her tormented soul.
If you ask singer-actress Adena Ajayi what it’s like seeing herself on television, the answer will surprise you. While she admits to being excited about each new opportunity and each new role – be it her latest film project Who Is She?, performing hits from her 2023 album Aura, or her 4 seasons in Below Deck Mediterranean – she just doesn’t like watching herself on camera. But the playback isn’t what’s important for the rising Hollywood star, what’s important is persistence and building more layers to her multi-hyphenate talent portfolio.
A rising Hollywood actress and singer who loves to create Afrobeats, R&B, and mainstream hits – Ajayi returned to home theatres this week with the summer release of her latest film project Who Is She where she co-stars as Professor Howard. The film reaches a collective audience of over 300 million streaming subscribers on platforms like Peacock, Tubi, Amazon Prime, Fandango, and Hoopla.

With thousands of films being released each month, Ajay explains why movie lovers should tune in and watch Who Is She? “What’s unique about this film is the fact that it’s for real. This can happen and it’s something that everybody needs to watch take it home and take it to heart and be very careful when you hire someone. It’s something that makes you say hmmmm,” Ajayi tells Heart & Soul.
Ajayi plays the role of Professor Howard – a caring, serious, skeptical lady who took her role a little too far when she decided to turn into an investigator. While Ajayi admits that she would never stick her nose into a matter like that in real life, the character that she brought to life did and you’ll have to watch the movie to find out exactly what happened.

“In my role,ç There was an investigation and I needed to look into it. I was concerned about the lady [Meagan] and I needed to go and make sure everything was okay. I went to the house and I should have been staying in my place, I should not have gone and investigated on my own. In my role, I kind of stuck my nose in something and I ended up in a bad situation, I should have just minded my business. In real life, I would never have done that. That’s not me,” Ajayi says.
Chiming in on the subject matter of vetting people in real life, as a businesswoman with multiple enterprises under her belt, Ajayi talks about her process of vetting new hires. “I do background checks, I call all the referrals. I try to get referred by friends. I ask questions, lots of questions. Do you like this person? Can you tell me? Can you send that person to me? I try to get referrals from people who work with these people and from someone who knows someone I know. I try to stay in the bubble and hire from people who know the people that I know.”

Directed by Mark K. Buddington [“Love and Hip Hop: New York”, “Suffocated”, “Victoria”] and distributed-produced by Maverick Entertainment in association with United Millions, the drama-thriller is filled with 85 minutes of intensity, horror, and an exhilarating storyline. Buddington opened up about what it was like working with Adena Ajayi “It was very interesting working with Adena at first she seemed very nervous, but after the first take, she became a natural. I would love to see what she can do with a lead role.”
The multi-hyphenate singer-songwriter is a contender for America’s Next Top Hitmaker where she is currently third place in her group, vote online at tophitmaker.org to support Ajayi as she contends for the #1 spot.
