What inspired you to produce a podcast?
What inspired me to start my Podcast; was the state of our society. Social media, is raising a culture of men in an environment that has a total misrepresentation of what a man is. I was inspired to lay a true foundation of what man should look like. In real life. Something that wasn’t given to me until late in life. There were no men passing the torch in environment, I came from. My goal is to change the narrative with the misrepresentation of men.
Tell us about your journey mentoring.
Mentoring has always been apart of me. From being a school teacher, track coach and owning a group home; for at risk youth. I believe Mentorship is one of life’s function. As we learn and develop. We must then nurture and teach someone else. Whether it being, the kids you have birthed or misguided broken people you may come in contact with. In life’s journeys.
What motivates you to empower Black men?
My motivation for empowering black men. Is apart of my purpose and calling. I’ve just been wired that way. To care, see and feel differently from most. A lot of people just don’t carry a burden for the development of other people. Almost like a pastor. I feel need to reach and teach. For me, it’s an obligation and privilege; that I feel is a must. Especially with black men. The household we are raised in our predominantly ran by women. Giving us just one side of coin. Emotionalism! Responding and looking at life through our mother’s eyes.
What have you learned most about yourself in producing the podcast?
What I’ve learned most about myself; in the production of this podcast. Is that when I’m passionate about a thing; there are downloads that take place. These downloads, give me direction, creativity and strength to manifest.
What does success look like for you?
Success for me, is being obedient to your purposes in life. I like to say, “that faint still voice inside”. This voice, gives direction. If you slow down enough to pay attention and listen. Money can’t buy it. It can only be a shadow of temporary, self fulfillment. Success is a void filler. Almost like a drug. Success is doing things without effort. Things that bring completeness. Selfgratifying.
