Nicholas is a strategist, planner and executor extraordinaire. He is a New Jersey native and alumnus of The George Washington University. He is principal and founder of NIW Design, a firm dedicated to enhancing its clients’ profiles through event management, image consulting, and strategic visioning. He is also a senior consultant for Values Partnerships, a social impact agency headquartered in Washington DC. Previously at the NAACP, he assisted in the execution of the NAACP Image Awards, the Annual Convention, its NAACP Experience expo and Leadership 500 Summit, He also developed external relations strategy for the chairman and board of directors.

What inspires you to show up at work every day?

Believing in what I do. Knowing that my work has an impact and is significant.

How did you determine your career path?

I’ve left my career path in divine hands. Allowing all options to come my way and being open to roads not taken has been what I am most proud of when it comes to my overall career.

What industries connect to your career choice?

The events industry aligns closely with my career choices. It is an industry that focuses less on office politics and more on what one is able and willing to produce for a client.

Describe the skills that will be essential to future entrepreneurs, business leaders and innovators.

Open-mindedness – the ability to accept that there may be other ways to consider accomplishing tasks. Integrity – we live in a world where authenticity and honesty is going to increasingly matter. 

Describe innovative methods you apply to your business and life.

I think the best strategy for businesses is to revolve all of their methods around relationship building. I firmly believe that relationships are primary and that they are the foundation for successful entrepreneurs.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

I would add an automatic lie-detector to social media so that users would have to be honest in their postings and vet what they repost.
