“People can have problems like a lot of the shows with addiction and struggles with something like that and still be valuable human beings and still be worth being loved”

A new musical drama series based on the best-selling novel Daisy Jones & The Six is coming to Amazon Studios on March 3rd. The highly anticipated series stars Elvis Pressley’s granddaughter Riley Keough as Daisy Jones and Sam Claflin as Billy Dunne. The entire cast and crew graced the red carpet with it’s 70’s inspired looks and took fans and the media on a musical “experience” into 70’s music and culture.

When asked which of the original songs from the musical series resonates most with her, Keough told Heart & Soul that Look at Us Now or Honeycomb are probably her overall favorite songs while adding that all of them are special and have meaning to her.

The performances with the band that we filmed over a 2 week period. They were all night shoots and it was wild, really fun and we got to perform in these big stadiums,” Keough shared while recalling her most memorable moments while filming.

Set in the Rock & Roll music scene of the 70’s, the band Daisy Jones & The Six were on top of the world having risen from obscurity to fame. Then at the height of their careers after a sold out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, in 1977, they called it quits. Over 4 decades later, the band members finally agree to reveal the truth. It’s the story of how an iconic band imploded at the height of their powers.

I think people are going to love this show! It has great original music and a beautiful storyline about these people coming together at this really important moment in their careers. There’s also love – there’s a love triangle, it’s messy, it’s life, and I think it’s beautifully done,” says Executive Producer Reese Witherspoon.

The series Director Nzingha Stewart calls the musical drama series decadent, lush, drugfield, graceful, and dirty. “I certainly know what it’s like to be a woman in a male-domainated space. So, I completely understood Daisy and related to that character and wanted to see more of her. I understood that people can have problems like a lot of the shows with addiction and struggles with something like that and still be valuable human beings and still be worth being loved,” Stewart tells Heart & Soul.

It’s amazing in every way – the cast is fantastic, the storylines are amazing, it’s about something. It’s about showing each other grace, it’s decadent, it’s lush, it’s great music, it’s beautiful cinematography, it’s great,” Stewart added.

Both Witherspoon and Stewart agree that it’s the music that people will absolutely love. The series features all original songs written and produced by Grammy-nominated producer Blake Mills. Medium caught up with the series composer Tom Howe on the red carpet who  describes the original scores as miminust, synth, pulses, piano, and emotion.

I think that what’s incredible about this in terms of songs is the band can actually plan which is unusual. You often see things where people are playing musicians and even though they’ve rehearsed and practiced, they couldn’t perform in life as a band. It feels very authentic,” Howe added.

The musical drama series also stars Camila Morrone as Camila Alvarez Dunne, Will Harrison as Graham Dunne, Suki Waterhouse as Karen Sirko, Josh Whitehouse as Eddie Roundtree, Sebastian Chacon as Warren Rojas, Nabiyah Be as Simone Jackson, and Tom Wright as Teddy Price, with a special guest appearance by Timothy Olyphant as Rod Reyes.

Promising to take viewers on a beautiful ride, the new series is based upon a time and place that music lovers and Rock & Rollers are obsessed with and original songs that will make you dance, launch, cry and have you feeling emotions.
