Welcome to Milan, Italy for the global reveal of Volvo’s all-electric 5-passenger EX30 crossover. The entry-level EV is built on an entirely new platform with architecture focused on advanced safety and intelligence. Achieving up to 275 miles of emission-free mobility from a 69 kWh battery, the 2025 EX30 continues Volvo’s tech-savvy generation of EVs while symbolizing the latest evolution of Scandic engineering, design, and sustainability. Potential owners can choose the Single Motor Extended Range model or the AWD Twin Motor Performance variant.

Overall, Volvo’s sustainable goal is to become an all-electric car brand by 2030. The plan is in motion with its halo EX90 full-size SUV on the way and the C40 and XC40 Recharges. An entry-level EX30 will now appeal to a broader audience of individuals wishing to electrify their lives with affordable pricing. EX30 also has the lowest carbon footprint of any Volvo to date. For instance, the automaker reduced the materials required to build the EV and utilized recycled steel and aluminum, two of the most significant carbon contributors in vehicle manufacturing.

In Milan, Volvo unveiled the EX30 to an international crowd of media who reveled in its future styling and elevated innovation. Yet the bigger news is that the all-electric EX30 has become the Swedish automaker’s smallest product but simultaneously the fastest with a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.4 seconds. This is achieved from the 422-horsepower, 400 lb-ft of torque, AWD, dual motor EX30 with a range of 265 miles. If reaching your destination at lightning speed is not a requisite, choose the RWD single motor EX30 with 268-horsepower and a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.1 seconds. In terms of juice, the EX30 will restore energy from 10% to 80% in 26 minutes from Level 3 DC Fast Charging. ChargePoint is Volvo’s charging station partner but the crossover works with any other brand’s infrastructure whether Electrify America or EVgo.

“The fully electric EX30 might be our smallest ever SUV, but it’s a big deal for our customers and a big deal for us as a company,” said Jim Rowan, our chief executive. “We like to say the EX30 is small yet mighty because it delivers on everything you’d want from a Volvo but in a smaller package. Like any Volvo, it’s an outstanding product that is safe and designed around people and their needs.”

VP of Exterior Design, T. Jon Mayer, and his team performed wonders on the styling of the EX30, especially the front fascia which personifies confidence. The vehicle features a fully extended glass roof and comes in three wheel sizes (18s, 19s, and 20s), with some featuring aero inserts for more efficiency. Volvo will present the EX30 in five vibrational exterior colors such as Cloud Blue and Moss Yellow, taken from some of Sweden’s natural elements.

For adventurous EV aficionados who enjoy traversing and exploring untapped lands and environments, select the EX30 Cross Country special edition that builds on the heritage of the nomadic nameplate. I’ve always been a fan of Cross Country models since they ride higher, are aggressive, and convey a rugged and menacing persona. Custom highlights include 19” black aero rims wrapped in knobby BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, front, rear, and side skid plates, and unique black panels stapled on the body including a blacked-out grille. If I were to buy an EX30, a Cross Country would definitely be the one for my lifestyle and preferred activities.

Inside the inspiring cabin, customers can choose from four diverse interiors dubbed rooms, curated with elements that appease the senses from a meditational perspective. One such is a recycled denim fiber that goes from fashion debris to art deco to help Volvo become carbon neutral by 2040. You will not find any leather within this model. Power seats, open spaces, hidden, sliding cupholders, and harman / kardon audio comprise key componentry. The brain of the EV is a single large vertical screen powered by Google’s ecosystem: Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Home. It also has wireless Apple CarPlay. Thoughtful and connective traits include:

–       5G Connectivity

–       Parking spot locator

–       Automated lane changes

–       EX30 App for vehicle status and charging station locator

–       Digital Key

And of course, Volvo’s penchant for safety found its way into the EX30 from various parameters. Product planners utilized safety and engineering techniques from other Volvo models to enhance the EX30 with the latest and greatest. Firstly, the key to protecting occupants is what Volvo calls the Safety Cage, built with different types of steel and aluminum. They also engineered the battery with a protective cage. A new airbag mounted inside the driver seat adds another protection layer and an extra set of eyes represented by sensors warn the driver when the EX30 identifies moving objects like cyclists approaching. Furthermore, driver fatigue and distractions contribute to a large portion of accidents, so the EX30 employs a combo of ultrasonic radars and cameras to offer more safety protection by keeping track of the surrounding world.

With mass production beginning in a few months, customers can order the 2025 Volvo EX30 today with a starting MSRP of $34,950 in the U.S. Are you ready to join Volvo in its next steps toward electrification, sustainability, safety, and design?
