The Women’s Congressional Policy Institute (WCPI) held a congressional briefing, “Reducing Maternal Mortality in the United States.” The briefing was held in conjunction with the leadership of the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus and made possible with the support of Proctor and Gamble (P&G) and Pampers.

During the briefing, we heard from a wide range of speakers representing both government and the private sector, each of whom presented bipartisan policy and on-the-ground recommendations for improving maternal health and reducing preventable maternal mortality.

Thank you to the leadership of the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus and our speakers, Dr. Janine Austin Clayton, Dr. Terri Major-Kincade, Stacey Brayboy, and Jazmyne Reid, who moderated the panel.

The recording includes remarks from Cindy Hall, WCPI President; Congresswoman Kat Cammack, Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus, and Congresswoman Emilia Strong Sykes, Vice-Chair of the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus; Congresswoman Lauren Underwood; Dr. Janine Austin Clayton, Associate Director for Research on Women’s Health and Director of the Office of Research on Women’s Health at NIH; Dr. Terri Major-Kincade of The University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston; and Stacey Brayboy, Senior Vice President, Public Policy and Government Affairs at March of Dimes. Jazmyne Reid, Maternal Health Equity Leader for Procter & Gamble Baby Care, moderated the discussion.
